Words Almost Fail Me

President Present will never be mistaken for a humble man.  Not that I can throw stones on that front, mind you.  My best friend has often referred to me as an arrogant bastard (even before the great beer of that name by the great Stone Brewery, but I digress).  And she’s right — I am an arrogant bastard.

But I am nothing — nothing — compared to our Ditherer-in-Chief:

“The first time around it’s like lightning in a bottle. There’s something special about it, because you’re defying the odds. And as time passes, you start taking it for granted that a guy named Barack Hussein Obama is president of the United States,” Obama said. “But we should never take it for granted.”

Where do I start?

How about the fact that it’s racist to use Obama’s middle name unless its convenient — for the chosen one — to rely on his middle name as some sort of talisman to ward off criticism or attract lefty contributors who think that “diversity” is more important than competence.

Next, let’s consider whether the guy is up to the task of being President of the United States.  Ask yourself, when was the last time the French were the badasses in the room?  When was the last time Has there been a first time that President Obama took the lead on anything?

Obama thinks that electing a state senator with no experience in the real world and no legislative accomplishments President is more important than electing someone who knows something about something, or anything, really, if he has the right name and ethnic background.  He takes for granted that his background matters.  Bullshit.

I grew up a middle class suburban white guy with a supportive family but modest means that were constantly stretched to the limit.  Mrs. Hound was raised by blue-collar folks on the outskirts of a smallish desert town.  We each have accomplished professionally far more than Obama ever did.  Seriously.  We have each held positions of great responsibility and accountability in private enterprise.

Neither of us is qualified to be President of the United States, and would never presume to be competent to be leader of the free world precisely because we know what it means to be responsible and accountable.  Yet Obama’s boundless ego (absent any accomplishments other than self-promotion) lets him say stuff like we should never take for granted the fact that this dithering back-bencher is our fearful leader.

Anyway, as usual, I can’t match the snark at Ace’s place.  Bastards.

The only good thing about the 2012 election season starting now is the fact that Obama’s arrogance really shines in closed-door fundraisers.
