The Summer Concert Season Begins

Yesterday was the first of our summer concerts at the Denver Botanical Gardens (actually, the second, but I missed the first one because of a business trip to San Francisco).  We go several times every year, and it’s a great time.

Last night, we arrived at the back gates at about 5:00 and huddled under the eaves of the gate house as the rain poured down under ominous skies.  The gates opened at about 6:10, just five minutes after the rain stopped.  As we picnicked and listened to great music — Natalie MacMaster and then Great Big Sea — the sun even popped out and presented us with a lovely rainbow and sunset colors.  What a beautiful night.

Tonight, back to the gardens to see Allen Toussaint and The Dirty Dozen Brass Band and Buckwheat Zydeco with some good friends.  Hopefully, the weather will cooperate.
