The Newt Gingrich Campaign Is Sinking, And The Rats Are Abandoning Ship

Well, I’m not sure Gingrich ever really was in the running for the Republican Presidential nomination.  He was (and is) technically in the race, but didn’t (doesn’t) have a chance of getting the nomination.

Gingrich would have been a disaster in the general anyway, between the cheating on his previous wife and his penchant for running off at the mouth.  Whenever he speaks, I sit waiting patiently to see whether he says something really quite clever and true in a novel and persuasive way, or instead shoves his foot squarely into his mouth leaving one wondering what he was possibly thinking.

But anyway, it appears that we will likely be spared the spectacle of a lengthy Gingrich campaign.   Hot Air and others are reporting that his senior campaign aides are departing en masse.  Speculators are speculating that the aides are jumping to the Rick Perry ship, but regardless of whether this portends a new entrant, it certainly indicates that Gingrich’s days as a candidate are numbered.
