Another Appropriately-Named Public Building

Earlier, I noted that it was somewhat apt that the Barack H. Obama Elementary School, which was re-named right about the time he was inaugurated, is being shut down.

Now, we learn that the Wilmington, Delaware Amtrak station is going to be named after Vice President Joe Biden.  Why is that particularly appropriate?  Not because Biden is Amtrak’s most famous commuter.  No, that’s no fun.

It is appropriate because (1) Biden was the guy appointed as the Administration’s “sheriff” to oversee stimulus spending and ensure it wasn’t wasted, (2) the project received $20 million in spendulus funds, and (3) the project came in . . . drumroll please . . . $5.7 million over its announced $32 million budget.

As Leslie Paige, of Citizens Against Government Waste says:

“It’s an absolutely perfect monument to a guy whose entire history has been overspending and overpromising,” she said. “It would make sense his name would be slapped on a bloated, over-budget train station in Wilmington.”
