It’s 3 a.m. A phone in the White House is ringing. Who do you want answering the phone?

Neither one, writes Michael Walsh:

Remember the ad Hillary Clinton ran against Barack Obama during the 2008 campaign? Remember the ad Hillary Clinton ran against Barack Obama during the 2008 campaign?

“It’s 3 a.m. and your children are safe and asleep,” it began. “But there’s a phone in the White House and it’s ringing. Something’s happening in the world.

“Your vote will decide who answers that call. Whether it’s someone who already knows the world’s leaders, knows the military, someone tested and ready to lead in a dangerous world . . . Who do you want answering the phone?”

Now we know the answer: neither of the above.

I think it is fair to say that neither the President nor the Secretary of State has covered him/herself with glory over the past couple of years.  In short, the Administration has never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity to do the right thing, back the right party, or oppose the right dictator.

While Obama was bowing to despots, Clinton was misspelling “reset” on gimmicky toys.  When Honduras faced a constitutional crisis, the Administration pressured its government, which was united regardless of party or branch, and which was acting under the terms of its constitution, to reinstall (unconstitutionally) a President-for-life  in the making.  When Iranians protested and the mullahs shot them in the streets, the administration backed the mullahs.  When Egypt and Libya erupted, the Administration stood silent.

And UN ambassador Susan Rice? She blew off a Security Council meeting on the Libyan crisis in order to attend a UN panel discussion on “global sustainability” in South Africa.

At least we know where the Administration’s priorities are.  They would much rather blather on about non issues than address the crises at hand.
