Light Blogging Today

Too much of the paying kind of work today, followed by the Governor Hickenlooper inaugural dinner early evening.

There are a few things I would like to comment on, so maybe in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, Ace is having fun with malicious speculation

Jennifer Rubin and Professor Jacobson both rightly praise David Brooks, but note that he doesn’t name enough prominent names.

Josh Kraushaar vainly asks the media to reflect on its attempt to politicize the Tucson shootings and the many glaring errors in the reporting that it caused.  As always after these kinds of episodes, the media will reflect, then pat itself on the back for how evenhandedly it smears conservatives.  After all, they occasisionally noted the lack of evidence to support their speculation before speculating away about connections that clearly do not exist.

And Jacob Weisberg continues trying to smear conservatives, the Tea party, and, yes, Sarah Palin.  You see, maybe they had nothing to do with Loughner, per se, but they made it “appreciably more likely that a disturbed person like Loughner would react, would be able to react, and would not be prevented from reacting, in the crazy way he did.”  What a tool

Lefties — How about every time you complain about overheated rhetoric on the right you provide an example or two?  That way, we can do a little compare and contrast with Ms. Malkin’s encyclopedic compilation of lefty lunacy during the Bush years.

And how about a little self-reflection.  There were red lights and sirens all over this nutjob, yet he was running around free on the streets.   Maybe it was liberal policies that made it impossible to institutionalize people like Loughner that made it “appreciably more likely that a disturbed person like Loughner would react, would be able to react, and would not be prevented from reacting, in the crazy way he did.”
