Obama Now Says “There’s No Such Thing As Shovel-Ready Projects”

Hmmm.  I respectfully disagree.  The whole Obama agenda is shovel-ready.

UPDATE: All joking aside, ponder for a moment how staggeringly naive and egotistical President Obama was is.  He gets elected and immediately sells a massive stimulus spending bill to Congress and the public.  His primary pitch is that the stimulus will have an immediate impact by targeting “shovel ready” projects.  NPR described the pitch as follows in February 2009:

As President Obama urges Congress to pass the $800 billion-plus stimulus package, one of his favorite selling points is the thousands of projects nationwide that he calls “shovel ready” — meaning planning is complete, approvals are secured and people could be put to work right away once funding is in place.

So Congress follows along and passes a massive stimulus bill and starts throwing Billions of dollars in taxpayer money around.   Only now, after all that and more has been spent — with, in Sen. Michael Bennet’s view, nothing to show for it — does Obama bother to “reflect[ ] on his presidency” and figure out that “there’s no such thing as shovel-ready projects.”  No kidding.

If State Senator “Present” had any experience at all in the real world, he would have known that government projects take a bit of planning and lead time before deciding to just spend our money.  But not Obama.
