Sarah Palin Is Heading To Iowa

In a move being interpreted as possibly preparing the ground for a run for the presidency in 2012, Sarah Palin is heading to Iowa for a fundraiser in a couple of weeks.  I really hope she doesn’t run for president.

I like her.  She is doing a great job revving up the base, fundraising for the party, and supporting conservative reform candidates around the country.  But she also draws strong negative reactions from many people.  My wife, for example, just can’t stand her.

Most importantly, the media would go nuts and do everything it can to attack and defeat Palin, just as it did everything it could to support and defend Obama in the 2008 election.  Look where that got us.  As unfair as it is, her running for president would create a distraction we simply don’t need.

What we need is a strong conservative candidate that would not draw such desperate opposition from the media.  We don’t need star power next election cycle.  We need someone with a longer record of proven competency in state-wide office.
