The Taxman Cometh

In New York, the taxman is trying to collect a tax of $0.08/bagel under a ” little known clause in its sales tax code that calls for a tax on sliced bagels or whole bagels consumed at the place of purchase.”  In Philadelphia, the taxman is requiring bloggers to pay a $300 for a “business privilege license” if they make a few (I mean very few) bucks through their websites.

Expect to see more of this kind of thing in the near future.  States have overspent, and most are not very anxious to cut spending.  So they will continue to seek new sources of revenue wherever they can find it.  That means you.
