Maybe I Need To Rethink The Whole Stimulus Thing

According to Jared Jacang Maher, at Face The State, “$5 million in loans have been funneled to liquor stores, breweries, wineries and distilleries across Colorado through backing by the Small Business Administration since Congress passed the stimulus act last year.”

Just kidding — the stimulus spending was a terrible way to allocate borrowed resources regardless of its individual components.  There also is no indication how much of these funds would have been available under ordinary SBA lending programs, or how much these businesses could have been funded through private lending.

Boutique breweries, wineries, and distilleries seem to be thriving here in Colorado.  Rightly so, since the qualifty of the Colorado boutique adult beverage products I have tried is generally outstanding.

In particular, the  SBA’s “stimulus” lending to Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey and Oskar Blues Homemade Liquids should be pretty safe investments.  Good stuff.
