GOP Gubernatorial Candidate Scott McInnis’ Plagiarism Problem

According to the Denver Post today, portions of Scott McInnis’ “Musings on Water” written as part of a rather lucrative two-year fellowship look a lot like portions of some stuff written 20 years earlier by now-Colorado Supreme Court Justice Gregory J. Hobbs.  While not as bad as the Post makes it sound — at least from the printed excerpts they have on-line — it does look like someone lifted a few paragraphs from Justice Hobbs and just edited them a bit rather than writing from scratch.   McInnis was paid $300,000 over two years to research and write a monthly article on water issues and do speaking engagements.  For that kind of coin, you had better review the product and make sure your work is original.

Although it bothers me that the media focuses with laser-like precision on the Reps but cannot rouse itself to inquire into the Dems’ candidates — how is it that people are just realizing that Obama is incompetent long after he gets elected? — this kind of sloppiness and laziness on the part of a gubernatorial candidate is not good at all.

Stick a fork in him folks, I think he’s done.
